…About my rad guitar and how I got it…

#blackstonesteel #foolsfait

What an Amazing Night!

Here I am with two bands at a New Years Eve bash with two smashing cool bands;

“Fools Fait” and “Blackstone Steel.”

Just a few days ago, my friend Denise told me about a really cool gig to go to for New Years Eve, it was way out in the country in the boonies. There would be two bands playing set to set. Immediately I was intrigued and knew this was something different and special that I did not want to miss.

Everything was there – it was like in a dream and I felt like floating on a cloud. There was a lot of room to sit near the food or closer to the bands, one could even watch from above, super cool! It was a lot of fun dancing and just taking it all in. With gobs of friendly people and a welcoming overall feel this was the place to be on New Years Eve for sure!

One highlight very special to me was to meet Rio Doyle up close and personal!!!

Once Fools Fait was finished playing their gig, we heard an announcement about buying raffle tickets. The big prize was a guitar, one that was hanging on the guitarist’s wall upstairs, right there in the barn. and after I hesitated for a while, I got up to buy 5. When I got up to the desk, I couldn’t see a line but then after someone moved, I asked a man standing nearby if he was in line. He said I could go first, he’s a gentlemen. I said “chivalry’s not dead, thanks so much.”

As the night went on it came time to announce the winner of an electric guitar and they called out the first number, oh, dang, I was one number off. But then no one came forward so they drew another one and someone went up but they didn’t have the number, so when they called the third number, it was the very middle number of my five tickets and I couldn’t even believe it!!! To be on the safe side, I kept them all together because I tend to be clumsy and who knows? Knowing me I could have dropped it on the way to the stage or maybe I didn’t read it right.

But YES, it’s true, it was ME!!! Yipeeee!!! I won. That guy came back that let me go ahead of me and said:”I bet you’re happy I let you go ahead of me!”

So that was the story of how I got my guitar, once the guitarist took the guitar off the wall, they commemorated it by signing it with the date and all of the band members of both bands too!

This is a story that doesn’t have to end, now this guitar has already been imagined by me as I wrote a song about a guitar. What it might be like to have one and its called “Me and My Guitar.”

Going forward I am planning to get some friends who are musicians together and perhaps “this is the beginning of something good,” as Daugherty said in a song.

Be blessed and thankful for blessings,

Evana.

New Year, New Stars ✨!

“Me and My Guitar 🎸”, a Song I wrote, a Dream came true!!!

I never owned a guitar, but imagined it with a poem I wrote in my 20’s.

But first, here’s a snapshot of my story…

I’ve been writing poems and songs since I was in my early 20’s. Before that, I enjoyed writing short stories in the closet, (at least my late Mom always told me that’s where she found me writing 😁). I was born in Adrian, Michigan and spent my early years of Elementary School in Onsted, Michigan, also known as the “Gateway to the Irish Hills.” It’s a small village located north of Toledo, Ohio and south of Jackson, Michigan. I was fortunate to be able to travel with my parents who both worked for the Armed Forces. As a dependent daughter of the Armed Forces, I grew up in Southwestern Germany. In German schools, I participated in choir, video, cultural dance and drama.

As a creative person with a good imagination, I have always been fond of the expressive arts. To share my love ❤️for writing ✍️, music 🎶 and the arts 🎭 🖼️, I manage a blog in which I aim to inspire people to find their own inner force by expressing themselves through these channels. My career experience includes working as an administrator, program instructor, paraprofessional and assistant director. I have experience in working with physically- and mentally challenged adults, autism in children and dementia in Seniors. I have a B.A. in Communications from Siena Heights University and am planning on continuing my education moving forward.

I recited my poetry in various places including the Sand Bar Cafe in Manitou Beach, Michigan, Hooligan’s in Adrian and Club 223 with great success and motivating feedback. My inspiration for my first published poetry was initiated by my late Mother when she told me about a contest in our local paper, “The Daily Telegram.” My parents had a farm between Adrian and Onsted, Michigan. I felt moved by nature since the difference from living in a more crowded country versus one like the US helped me appreciate nature and freedom that much more. The stark contrast of culture, lifestyles, leadership and living is profound.

Fast forward to today, I’ve been back from Germany for over 25 years and, after having three sons and finally feeling somewhat more settled in life, I am ready for my next adventures. I’ve had some health issues and roadblocks like everyone but since the dust settled, I am rising through the rubble and looking up.

Writing, Music and the Arts are always helpful and therapeutic to me so I aim to share that with the world in my work and inspire others to take a shot into the expressive arts: writing, music or the arts. I’ve been managing EvanaLife.com since around 2017 and boy do I love it and everything it is. This year, I am finally ready to publish in print. It is a force, it is a catalyst and it will grow exponentially.

Now to how I got my guitar…will be in my next post

…Stay tuned

Blessings,

Evana.
